Axé Capoeira Toronto is dedicated to promoting the art of Capoeira and other cultural Brazilian expressions through classesshows, festivals and workshops. We hold daily classes at our Toronto school as well as in Mississauga and Scarborough. Our group of students range from kids 3yrs old up to Adults 45+. Classes are divided about 50/50 between men and women of all cultural backgrounds and from all parts of the GTA.

Axé Capoeira Academy has been running in Toronto since May 2006 with classes being taught in Toronto and surrounding cities since 2000.

The Toronto school, led by Instrutor "Paraiba", is one of the many branches of Axé Capoeira, one of the world's largest and leading Capoeira schools. Under the guidance of Mestre Barrão, the founder and president of Grupo Axé Capoeira organization, our group has grown to over 9,000 members worldwide in 20+ countries.

Axé Capoeira has been running in Toronto since 2000 under the guidance of Mestre Barrão , the founder and president of Grupo Axé Capoeira organization - one of the biggest and well respected groups in Brasil. Our Grupo is based in Vancouver , British Columbia, Canada with many other bases throughout the world, including many schools in the US / Canada as well as Russia, Poland, Mexico, Turkey, Brazil and others.

We offer classes in Capoeira, Afro-Brazilian Dance, Brazilian Portuguese, Maculele and Music. Check the descriptions below...

- Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian Martial Art with movements of Dance and Acrobatics. It combines these movements with traditional music, African and Brazilian Culture, Discipline, and more. Students learn self-defence, acrobatics, dance, music, culture and more. Classes are available for children, men and women of all ages.
- Brazilian Dance classes are taught by Tatiana Almeida from Danca Brasil. This class covers steps from the popular dance styles Samba and Axe.
- Brazilian Portuguese . All Capoeira songs are in portuguese. It is important for a complete capoeirista to understand the language in order to better understand Capoeira.
- Maculele is very closely tied with Capoeira. It is a warrior dance which uses two sticks symbolizing the machetes used by the slaves in the sugarcane plantations.
- Music . The Brazilian culture is full of music and sounds. Capoeira, Maculele and all the dances mentioned have their own traditional instruments and rythems that acompany them.

Instrutor 'Paraiba' teaches classes in Toronto and supervises classes in Mississauga and Scarborough. Students range from ages 3-45, men and women of all cultural backgrounds.
